How to Measure
Waist: Using a soft tape measure, wrap it around the natural waistline — the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the belly button. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and measure over underwear or a thin base layer (not over a jumper).
Inside Leg (Length): Stand upright with feet together. Measure from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to the ankle bone. It helps to have someone else take this measurement for accuracy.
Size Selection — Waist & Length
These trousers are sized by waist (inches) and inside leg length (inches) — for example, a size 24W / 18L means a 24" waist and 18" inside leg. Select the combination that matches your measurements most closely from the size dropdown.
Current Fit or Room to Grow?
These trousers are cut with a slim fit leg, so sizing for current measurements generally gives the best look and comfort. However, some families prefer to size up by one waist size or one length to allow for growth during the school year — particularly at the start of term. There is no single right answer: consider how quickly your child is growing and whether the trousers can be taken up or let down at the hem if needed. Both approaches are valid — the choice is yours.
Fit Notes
- The waistband includes a button and zip fastening with no internal elastic adjuster — fit at the waist is important.
- A leather belt is included; if sizing up on the waist, the belt will help with day-to-day fit.
- These trousers cannot be exchanged for a different size once worn, so please check measurements carefully before ordering.
